Services & Programs

RSP Program

RSP, in education stands for resource specialist program.  This is a form of special education  available to students with mild to moderate learning disabilities, who are having trouble in one or more areas of classroom learning. Some students are provided direction instuction in math and curriculum support.  It occurs once a day in order to help address ongoing learning challenges.

Our goal in Special Education is to help students learn in regular classroom settings, called mainsteaming.  The program is set-up so that teachers or resource specialists work with students in their mainstream classes.  The resouce specialst goes from class to class, assisting at certain designated points during the day, like those devoted to acquiring language or math skills.

Independent Living Skills Program

The Foothill High School ILS program is a highly interactive, skills-based program designed to promote positive health and personal development for high school youth. This program helps adolescents navigate the challenges of the high school years, and prepares them for the independence and responsibilities that they will encounter as young adults.

Program Learning Objectives
The program uses a developmentally appropriate integrated approach designed to strengthen student abilities in the following areas:

  • Personal Self-Management Skills
    Provides students with strategies for decision-making, managing stress, and anger.

  • General Social Skills
    Enables students to strengthen their communication skills and build healthy relationships.

     

Special Day Program

The Special Day classes at Foothill High School is an inclusion-based program in which students work in the classroom towards core academic and social goals while mainstreaming for electives and selected academic classes.  Functional and academic curriculum are combined to challenge the students to their fullest potential. 

Our population of students benefit from a print-rich, language-based environment, as well as the corresponding visuals and manipulatives that are incorporated into every subject presented. Assistive Technology, icons, and photos, is utilized to successfully build receptive and expressive language.

Workability Program

WorkAbility is a training program for special education students ages 16—22. It is designed to promote career awareness and exploration while students complete their secondary education program.

WorkAbility provides students with opportunities for job shadowing, paid and non-paid work experience, and ongoing support and guidance from vocational personnel. WorkAbility  is administered by the California Department of Education, Special Education Department.

The mission of the Twin Rivers Unified School District's Workability Program is to meet the employment and transitional needs of all middle and secondary students who have an individual education plan, and to prepare them for successful employment and independent living.

We achieve this goal by assisting each student with planning, implementing, and monitoring their dreams and goals, with collaboration and support from families, instructors, and community members. Our WorkAbility Program provides a full array of work-based learning opportunities, within our local school district and throughout the community. We support teachers and administrators by providing WorkAbility Staff at every school site, and offering professional development opportunities.

The vision of the Twin Rivers Program is to insure that our students will be prepared for gainful employment, relevant post-secondary education, and quality adult life to their fullest potential
