Graduation FAQs

Graduation 2015 Frequently Asked Questions

When and where do I get tickets?

Tickets will be distributed during the first week of June during lunch time.

How many tickets do I get?  How do I get extra tickets?

Every graduating senior will be given the exact same amount of tickets (approximately 14-15) for graduation.  The exact amount is determined by dividing 3000 (total number of seats in stadium) by the size of the graduating class.  Infants and toddlers will not need a ticket to enter the stadium but all older children will. Each senior will receive 3 yellow tickets, which will be used in case of rain and an indoor graduation.  All tickets can be used at the stadium.

If students have a need for extra tickets, they will need to talk with other graduates, friends, classmates.

When & where is graduation?

Graduation will be June 11, 2015 at 7:00pm in the Foothill Stadium.  The gates will be opened 90 minutes prior to the beginning of ceremonies.

In the event of inclement weather, the decision may be made to hold the ceremonies indoors, or the following day, depending on scheduling.

What if it rains?

We will make every effort to have the graduation as planned in the stadium.  In the event of heavy rain, the ceremony will be moved indoors to the large gym.  If this occurs, the yellow tickets will be the only ones accepted and each graduate will be limited to 3 guests.

What do graduates wear to the ceremony?

All graduates wear a traditional cap, gown and tassel during the ceremony.  Boys wear black and girls wear white. Specific guidelines for dress will be available on the graduation newsletter which will be posted on the website.  One note:  Graduates will not be allowed to decorate or adorn the cap/gown.  We do, however, recommend that all graduates take the time to iron their gown, as it will have wrinkles from packaging.

Adornments are restricted in order to maintain proper decorum for this formal, dignified ceremony.  In order to balance the desire to recognize academic achievements with the need to prevent the creation of an atmosphere of segregation, only the following adornments have been approved.

 AVID:                    4 years

Top 10 seniors:      Based on fall 2015 semester grades

High Honors:         Students with 3.5 or above GPA who have satisfied California A-G college requirements

When will my graduate receive their cap and gown?

Caps and gowns will be distributed during lunch on May 27th.

Where do I order my cap and gown?

Cap and gowns can be ordered at www.norcalgrad.com.

Where is the best spot for pictures?

Upon entering the stadium to start the ceremony all graduates will walk the track to allow for all parents to get pictures of their graduate.  Parents and spectators will not be allowed on the field or the track at any time before, during or after the ceremony.  Following the ceremony, graduates will exit the stadium and they will meet their families in the parking lot.  This will be another opportunity to take pictures with your graduate.

Where do I park?

Families and spectators will be allowed to park in any of the available parking lots on campus, as well as the black top behind the gym near the tennis courts/baseball fields.  There will be limited parking in the stadium parking lot, as this area will be reserved for staff, district office employees, board members, and handicapped parking only.  We request that our families car pool as best they can.  We will also secure parking at Foothill Ranch Middle School black top.

When & where do graduates get their diploma?

As graduates walk across the stage, they receive their diploma covers, but not their diplomas.  This is done to help ensure that there are no errors in giving incorrect diplomas and in the essence of saving time.

Graduates get their diplomas in the career center the day after graduation, beginning at 8:00am.  All student debts must be cleared prior to receiving their diploma.  This would include, but is not limited to, fees for books, sports equipment, clubs fee, etc.  Diplomas will only be given to the graduate.  Parents, family or friends cannot pick up a diploma for someone else.

Can I bring balloons into the stadium?

Balloons will not be allowed into the stadium, because they have the potential of blocking the view of other audience members.
