KEVIN MAHEY's Review of One Piece 2

“I’m gonna become the King of the pirates and obtain the One Piece.” This a story about a child named Monkey D. Luffy who has dreamed to become the King of the pirates. His whole life changed when he accidentally consumed he Gum-Gum fruit an enchanted fruit that gave him the ability to stretch like rubber. The only drawback is that he can never swim again. A serious handicap for an aspiring pirate at sea.

Usopp is the local Liar/Prankster of his village by shouting every morning that, “Pirates are coming!” Captain Kuro of the Black Cat Pirates had been laying low as a butler and biting his time for the perfect moment to strike the richest in the village, Kaya. Usopp had overheard Kuro and his plan to strike the village and tried to warn all of the residents of the village, but no-one believed him. So, he joins forces with Luffy and the Straw hat pirates o defeat Captain Kuro and his forces if they can.

I believe that this is a really incredible novel. It is one of the best series of books I’ve ever read. This is a book mainly on action and comedy if you’re into that kind of fictional book. Some of the action was outrageous and takes both pages of the manga. One piece gets you enticed into the characters’ abilities a limitations. In this series of manga there is a sense of mystery lingering over everything that we don’t know who else had eaten the devil fruit and how powerful they are. With this, there is always is a thought at the back of our minds that, “Will the Straw hat pirates survive?”

KARLA RAYA PAREDES Reviews THE ONE by Kiera Cass

The book I read was is from The Selection Series: “ The One” By: Kiera Cass. This book was published in 2014.  Four girls who remain at the palace are rivals who have faced many dangers and are bound to each other for the rest of their lives. Now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen. America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown - or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose - and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.

I would totally recommend this book, and of course the other books from the Selection Series. I really loved this book because America, the main character of the story, chooses to fight for the one she loves. Even though the king, Maxon’s father, doesn’t want America to become the next princess because she doesn’t act like a lady and ignores the king’s orders. So the king wants to kick America out of the palace.

I would recommend this book to those who love to read young adult fiction. I also love to read other genres, but for now The Selection Series is one of my favorite series to read. I liked how the story ended. Now that I’m finished with the third book I am moving to the fourth book of the Selection Series. I hope I like this book too.

Mr. Coelho's Review

Echo Burning – A Review by Mr. Coelho

Jack Reacher has no home. He only has the clothes on his back and travels by hitching rides, walking, or riding the bus, usually. However, Jack Reacher is not a bum – far from it. Jack Reacher is a tall, muscular, powerfully-built man who is a former Army officer. In fact, he was part of a special investigations unit of the military police. His father was a Marine before him and, as a result of him joining the Army after college at West Point, Reacher lived his entire life where the government wanted him to. After his discharge, he decided that nobody would tell him where he had to live or where he had to go ever again. Reacher goes where his whims take him – but everywhere he goes, as the title of one of the books in the Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series says, “Bad Luck and Trouble” seem to follow him.

Lee Child’s Echo Burning takes place in West Texas. Jack Reacher has just broken the nose and finger of a drunk, obnoxious man who tried to bully him in a bar. He discovers that the obnoxious drunk that he decked is the local sheriff, so he gets himself out of the bar in a hurry and is hitching a ride at a freeway entrance. Almost instantly a Cadillac, driven by a good looking Hispanic lady named Carmen, pulls over and gives him a ride. In pretty short order, Carmen tells Reacher that her husband is abusive, she fears for the wellbeing of their young daughter, and asks Reacher if he would consider killing him. Carmen’s husband Sloop is getting out of jail soon and she’s afraid for her life. Sloop’s family later tells Reacher that she’s crazy, and the district attorney tells Reacher that there are no medical reports to show any abuse. Reacher still has the feeling that Carmen is telling her the truth – even with all evidence to the contrary. Will Reacher agree to kill Sloop? Is Carmen really the lying gold-digger that everyone says she is? And why are there three people hiding in the desert watching Carmen’s house through high-powered binoculars and taking notes?

Echo Burning is just one of the series of Jack Reacher books written by British author Jim Grant, writing under the pen name Lee Child. Like all of the Reacher stories, it is full of action, twists and turns, and an unexpectedly terrific ending. I have enjoyed many of the Reacher series and Echo Burning is a good example. I highly recommend it and the rest of the Reacher stories to anyone who might enjoy stories about a slightly odd but moral man who has his own sense of justice, can fight hard, and also very intelligently solve very complex human problems and mysteries. Reacher isn’t just strong – he is also very intelligent and moral…even when he has to take the law into his own hands. I would not recommend reading any of the Reacher series before bedtime. You won’t want to put any of them down.
